Cougar KirbyGood Sparks Intervention Facilitator
Cougar creates, animates and participates in activities and events with youth in the elementary schools in Kahnawa:ke. Cougar gives hands on teachings of healthy foods, healthy activity and an overall healthy lifestyle while delivering our message of KSDPP and diabetes prevention. Cougar has been a part of KSDPP for over 2 years as a research assistant and has now been full-time since August 2021. Champlain Regional College with a D.E.C. commerce. Cougar Kirby Graduated from McGill University with a B.A in Sociology. In his spare time, Cougar enjoys playing lacrosse, going on hikes, going to the gym and spending time with his young family. Cougar is always striving to make the best opportunities for youth in the community. |
Nadine MontourKSDPP Part-Time Bookkeeper
Nadine joined KSDPP on February 2021. She retired from full-time work at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre as Finance Manager. Nadine enjoys to spend time with her grandchildren and at her cabin in Tiowero:ton. |

Sandy started at KSDPP in 2016. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to jazz music and reading. |
Laurie DeerGood Sparks Communications Coordinator
Laurie handles, creates, and executes communication and public relations. She has been with the organization since September 2021. Prior to that, she spent 10 years in sales and promotions with K103 radio and many private organizations. Laurie graduated from Champlain Regional College with a D.E.C. commerce. In her spare time, she enjoys running and will do her first ½ marathon in the Spring 2022. Laurie is always striving for better in her personal and private life. |
Lori Diabo-McComberPart-Time Administrative Assistant to KSDPP and Diabetes Action Canada
Lori is responsible to organize various meetings, recording, transcription of meeting minutes and ensure follow up. She joined KSDPP in August 30 th , 2021. She retired from full-time work on August 31, 2020 after 29 at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre with the last 22 years as Executive Assistant. In her spare time, she spends time with her grandchildren, reading or doing jig saw puzzles. She hopes to begin travelling again when the pandemic is over. |
Connie Oronhienhawi MelocheKSDPP General Manager
Connie joined KSDPP in May 2021. She manages the day-to-day operations along with overseeing the projects, finance, communications, and human resources. Her background is in consulting in community organizations and many grassroots initiatives over the years. One of her many accomplishments includes the 100th Anniversary of the Quebec Bridge Disaster memorial. |
Seneca KirbyGood Sparks Project Recreation Facilitator
Seneca has experience working with youth as a birthday party host, and at the KSCS Onkwanenra Summer Program. She graduated from Camosun College with her Dogwood Diploma and continued her education in Indigenous Family Support Work and Indigenous Studies. In her spare time, Seneca enjoys cooking, swimming, skiing, and blogging. Seneca is motivated to live a healthy lifestyle and to be a good role model for her younger siblings, nieces, and nephews. Dawson is doing his 3rd-year stage at Nurturing Healthy Growth as a social media, communication, and workshop creator. He will graduate from Dawson College in the Community Recreation Leadership Training Program (CRLT). He loves working with youth, creating and inspiring change within the community, and likes working with social media the most. He will be going into horticulture this coming fall |
Tawnie LahacheYouth Engagement Research Assistant
Tawnie has been an employee at KSDPP in the Nurturing Healthy Growth program since summer 2021. She plays an active role in having discussions with youth, conducting data analysis, and creating workshops/events. Tawnie is in her third year at Concordia University as a full-time student for a Bachelor's Degree in Human Relations and received her Home Health Aide DEP in 2016. Since her time with us, she has done presentations for youth at the University of Montreal summer camp on the challenges and benefits of receiving post-secondary education. Tawnie is also a mother to her 7-year-old son Ho'nigoñhewa:neñh and enjoys getting him involved with the fun activities Nurturing Healthy Growth has to offer. |
Sarah FraserSarah is a descendent of colonial settlers, myself born in what is often called Montreal, Quebec. She is a mother of two amazing people. She holds a position as professor at University of Montreal at the school of psychoeducation. She is commited to learning and sharing with Onkwehonwe youth and communities around Indigenizing research, decolonizing services and supporting people on their personal and collective journeys of wellness. She observes and tries to act on any obstacles and facilitators that influence youth and communities in these paths towards self-determination in the field of health and wellness.
