DIABETES INFORMATION AND RESOURCES
People with diabetes face many issues that have serious effects on their physical, emotional and financial quality of life. Controlling diabetes requires an around-the-clock commitment from the individual with diabetes. The onset of complications due to diabetes (increased risk of cardiovascular problems and stroke, eye problems and poor blood circulation) can be delayed and even prevented through effective diabetes management. Education is the key to understanding and managing diabetes.
At the Kahnawake Schools Diabetes Prevention Program we believe education is an integral component of diabetes, management and care. Everyone needs access to proven, effective, professional education about diabetes. We have compiled National Indigenous Diabetes Association, International Diabetes Federation, and Diabetes Canada educational resources in one convenient location. However, we encourage you to always get regular follow-ups and seek advice from your physician and your diabetes healthcare team.
